AMBER CINEMA

These are the opening day pictures of my father's "Amber Cinema" (Karachi, Pakistan, 1975). The youngest kid in the pictures is me. And yes, I might still be able to rock that stripped short-pants suit.

My story is like "Cinema Paradiso" meets "Rudy," set in Pakistan.

Ironically, I never wanted to be in this field. I had no desire to act, write, or direct. well, until I dropped out of engineering and went to art school.

There, I fell in love with airbrushing. That piqued my interest in special effects, which piqued my interest in acting and directing.

And the two-year "wrongful" deportation proceedings here in the US made me a writer.
